Stephan Buger (born October 12, 1877 in Esseg , † August 31, 1951 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAPDÖ ) and the 21st mayor of St. Pölten.

Life

Stephan Buger was born on October 12, 1877 as the son of a carpenter in Esseg, where he attended the German school and the Croatian grammar school. However, he could not complete the latter due to a lack of language skills, whereupon he learned the bookbinding trade. During his time as a journeyman, he first came to Vienna before moving to St. Pölten in 1900, where he settled down as a master bookbinder.

Buger became town councilor in 1919 and mayor in April 1933. Due to an ordinance issued by the Province of Lower Austria, he was relieved of his office in February 1934. After his dismissal, he withdrew from politics and died in St. Pölten in 1951.
