Stephan Stompor

Stephan Stompor (born February 14, 1931 in Königshütte (Upper Silesia) ; died October 23, 1995 in Berlin ) was a German musicologist and dramaturge .

Life

Stephan Stompor studied opera directing at the State University for Theater and Music in Halle with Heinz Rückert . From 1954 he worked as a director at the Brandenburg City Theater and the Schwerin State Theater , as a dramaturge at the Leipzig Opera House and as a director at the State Theater in Halle . In 1967 he became a dramaturge at the Komische Oper Berlin , where he worked with the directors Walter Felsenstein and Joachim Herz as well as with Götz Friedrich . In 1975 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on German-language performances of Handel's operas in the 18th century in Halle. Stompor published programs and libretti . He wrote articles on the history of music theater, in particular on the time of National Socialism . Due to his serious illness, parts of his work could only be published posthumously.
