Stephan Stracke (born April 1, 1974 in Marktoberdorf ) is a German lawyer and politician . As a member of the CSU , he has been a member of the German Bundestag for the Bundestag constituency of Ostallgäu since autumn 2009 .

Stracke is Catholic and married.

Stracke spent his childhood and school days in Kaufbeuren . After graduating from high school in 1993, he did his basic military service and then studied law at the University of Augsburg between 1994 and 1998 - with a scholarship from the Hanns Seidel Foundation . In 1999 he passed the first state examination in law. He spent his legal clerkship at the Ostallgäu district office and in a tax and business law firm in Augsburg. The second state examination followed in 2001.

He established himself as a lawyer in 2002. In 2005 he joined the Bavarian civil service as a lawyer at the Munich regional building department . In 2006 he moved to the State Building Authority Munich 1 as head of the legal department. Since December 2008, he has been working at the Supreme Building Authority in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior , where in March 2009 he was appointed to the Upper Government Council.

His political career began in 1991 when he joined Junge Union Bayern. There he served from 1999 to 2007 as chairman of the Ostallgäu district association. He was also a member of the district committee of the JU Schwaben and from 2003 to 2007 the German Council and member of the state committee of the Junge Union Bayern. In 1995 Stracke became a member of the CSU. In 2005 he was elected local chairman of the CSU Kaufbeuren and since 2007 he has been deputy district chairman of the CSU Ostallgäu.

He took on his first political mandate after the local elections in spring 2002 as a city councilor in Kaufbeuren. There he is a member of the building committee and deputy chairman of the CSU parliamentary group. On February 28, 2009 he was elected in Obergünzburg as the successor of the no longer candidate Kurt Rossmanith as a direct candidate of the CSU for the Bundestag constituency Ostallgäu . In the vote, he prevailed in a runoff election against the Ettringen mayor Robert Sturm.

After the Bundestag election in 2009 , he moved to the German Bundestag for the first time as a member of parliament.

He was deputy chairman of the second NSU committee of inquiry.

Since June 6, 2018, he has also been a member of the pension commission "Reliable intergenerational contract" set up by the federal government
