Stjepan Tomas (born March 6, 1976 in Bugojno , SFR Yugoslavia , now Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a former Croatian football player .
Career
society
Career in Croatia
Tomas' career began in Bugojno, the city of his birth, where he played for NK Iskra Bugojno . In the 1994/95 season he was hired by NK Istra Pula . After his first year at Istra Pula, he moved to Dinamo Zagreb , where Stjepan Tomas played for five years. With Dinamo he won five championships and celebrated three cup wins.
Adventure in Italy
For the 2000/01 season Tomas moved to Serie A promoted Vicenza Calcio . The Italians paid Dinamo Zagreb the equivalent of three million euros for the trained central defender. The club was relegated to Serie B in the first year . After a year in the second highest Italian division, he moved to the first division promoted Como Calcio for the 2002/03 season and rose again after a year in Serie A in the second division.
Career in Turkey
In July 2003 Tomas moved to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe Istanbul for one million euros , with whom he became Turkish champions. The following season he went to Galatasaray Istanbul , one of Fenerbahçe's city rivals, on a free transfer . At Galatasaray he made 95 appearances, 50 of which were in the Turkish Süper Lig . In February 2010, Tomas moved from Russia back to Turkey to Gaziantepspor and a year later to the newly promoted Süper Lig Bucaspor .
Career in Russia
In August 2007 Tomas moved from Galatasaray Istanbul to the Russian club Rubin Kazan for 700,000 euros , where his former teammate Hasan Kabze had already signed. With Rubin Kazan he became Russian champions in 2008 and 2009.
National team
For the Croatian national team , Stjepan Tomas played 49 games and scored one goal. With Croatia he took part in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea and in the 2006 World Cup in Germany .
successes
In his five years at Dinamo Zagreb, Stjepan Tomas was Croatian football champion five times (1996 to 2000) and won the Croatian Cup three times (1996 to 1998). With Fenerbahçe Istanbul he won the Turkish championship in 2004. In 2006 he was also able to win the Turkish SüperLig with Galatasaray Istanbul and the Turkish Cup in 2005. In his three years with the Russian club Rubin Kazan, he won the Premier League in 2008 and 2009 .
