Struthas was at the beginning of the 4th century BC. Chr for a short time Persian satrap of Lydia with seat in Sardis .

Initially supreme general of the maritime provinces, he tended towards a policy directed against Sparta . Together with the satrap Tissaphernes he defeated in 399 BC. A Spartan mercenary army under Thibron that had invaded Asia Minor. Four years later, however, Tissaphernes was defeated in a battle against King Agesilaos II of Sparta and was then executed at the instigation of Great King Artaxerxes II . His successor Tiribazos fought the Spartans successfully, but tended to come to an agreement with them at the expense of Athens. In 391 BC BC he took up peace talks with Sparta against the intentions of the Persian court. He was then replaced by Struthas, who from now on supported Athens .

The increasing successes of the Athenians at sea, however, aroused at the Persian court the fear of a strengthening of the Athenian power and a possible revival of the Attic League . So the willingness grew to come to terms with Sparta at the expense of Athens. In 388 BC BC therefore replaced Tiribazos Struthas again and the following year proclaimed the peace of the king , in which Sparta's hegemony over Greece was recognized and the Achaemenid Empire appeared as a guarantee.
