João Michel Diau's parents come from the Angolan capital Luanda . Due to the civil war in Angola , his mother fled to Germany from her home country shortly before Diau was born . His father was only able to follow suit in 1998 due to problems entering the country. Bonn became the family's adopted home when João was a teenager. From then on, he grew up in the Medinghoven district of Bonn . There he was also given his stage name Sugar MMFK. The addition to the name MMFK stands for “Nobody fucks with me”. He is an Angolan citizen but does not have an Angolan passport.

His career began in 2015 with the project Face Slap Mixtape , in which his first hit Lost City can be found. With his music he processes the experiences that he makes on the street every day. US rap is an important inspiration for Sugar. The music from 50 Cent in particular shaped his style. But not only the USA, but also France are on Sugar MMFK's musical menu. As official support from Booba , he managed to get on the big stage with his from Drill Music one year after his debut in Germany. The single Lolito followed in the summer of 2017 . Because of a dispute with the beat producer, the song had to be taken offline for a while, but is now online again. At the turn of the year 2017/2018 Sugar MMFK published the Freetrack CinqTrois scenario as a thank you for the loyalty of its fans.

In spring 2018, Sugar MMFK signed a contract with the Bantu Nation label. Only a short time later the label was signed by Chapter ONE / Universal Music . Through his new label he released singles such as Trikot von Paris and the tape Allô Allô . More singles followed in the course of 2018 with label colleague NU ( Let go and watch out ) and also with label colleagues Des and G-Mac ( I do what I want ). He also featured rapper SAMY, who is under contract with Alles Oder Nix Records , on the single Aboo at the end of 2018 .

In March 2019 it became known that the Bonn immigration authorities had obtained a deportation notice to Angola against Sugar MMFK . The reason should be several violent crimes.
