Superciliar vibrissae

As Superciliarvibrissen stiff are sensory hairs called, engaged in various mammals are in the area around the eyes. Together with other feeler bristles, such as the mystacial vibrating fissures in the area around the mouth and nose, they represent highly effective sensory organs that can primarily perceive touch.

These are particularly noticeable in rabbits, where they are referred to as rabbit whiskers, and in rodents. In cats and other predators, they are commonly referred to as whiskers.
