Supertec
Supertec is a former company founded and managed by Flavio Briatore in 1998 , the purpose of which was to prepare former Formula 1 engines from Renault or Mecachrome for racing for a leasing fee of 15 million dollars per customer. In 1999 ( Williams , B · A · R ) and 2000 ( Arrows ), various Formula 1 teams were supplied with V10 units. The Italian Benetton team also drove the Supertec engines in 1999 and 2000, but named them after the Playlife brand .
In 1998, the former Renault engines, with which Williams won the 1997 World Championship, were modified and further developed by the French supplier company Mecachrome after Renault itself had officially withdrawn.
