history

The Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa began with the establishment of the Appellate Division in 1910, when the South African Union was formed from the four British colonies of Cape , Natal , Orange Free State and Transvaal . With the adoption of a new constitution in May 1996, the Appellate Division was renamed the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa and incorporated into the new constitution.
