Janet Susan Mary Hoffman alias Viva (born August 23, 1938 in Thousand Islands , New York , USA ) is an American actress and former " Andy Warhol superstar".

Life

Susan Hoffman is the oldest child in a conservative family of nine siblings. Her father was a prominent lawyer. Susan studied at the Sorbonne in Paris . She first met Andy Warhol at the engagement party of Betsey Johnson and John Cale at the legendary Chelsea Hotel in New York . At the party, she “pressed” the pop artist until he agreed to the role in his next film. The next day she played in Warhol's film The Loves of Ondine (which was only released a year later and of which only parts were initially used in the film **** ). “VIVA!” Was born (Warhol gave her the name) and immediately ousted the reigning “superstar” Ultra Violet from the Warhol factory . Viva! (she later deleted the exclamation mark from her pseudonym ) was to be seen in numerous Warhol productions from now on (until the 1970s ). After several discrepancies with Warhol (mostly due to financial discrepancies), she left the factory and tried to take her film career into her own hands, which she did not really succeed. In addition to some more or less successful roles and supporting roles, it was quiet about the former "Warhol superstar". Viva married the French filmmaker Michel Auder in 1970 (the marriage is now divorced), with whom she has a daughter, the actress Alexandra Auder . Another daughter, Gaby Hoffmann , is also an actress.
