Susanne Meinl

Susanne Meinl (born February 15, 1964 in Grebenhain , Vogelsbergkreis ) is a German historian .

Life

Meinl studied history , political science and sociology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . She wrote her doctoral thesis at the Hans Mommsen chair . In it she dealt with the (little-researched) national-conservative resistance against Adolf Hitler . In 1997 she was at the Ruhr University in Bochum for Dr. phil. PhD . Henning Köhler criticized the work for its uncritical and tendentious use of sources .

She wrote about the German intelligence services from 1919 to 1956. At the Fritz Bauer Institute (1998-2006) she examined the role of the Reich Finance Administration in the expropriation of the Jews in Hesse and the forced labor of Friedrich Flick . From 2009 to the end of 2011 she worked at the NS Documentation Center in Munich .

Since her student days, she has also devoted herself to the regional history of her home country, for example the history of the Jews in Wetzlar . In Giessen and the district of Giessen she advises schools on stumbling blocks . For Frankfurt am Main she works on the Internet portal “Frankfurt 1933–1945”. In 2014 she published a book together with the BND historian Bodo Hechelhammer about the Reichsiedlung Rudolf Hess .
