Suzie (born August 21, 1946 as Martina Carina Peereboom in Tilburg , Netherlands ; † March 3, 2008 in Nordmaling , Sweden ) was a Dutch-Swedish singer and artist.

Life

Before Suzie began her career as a pop singer in 1960, she worked as a circus performer at the Dutch Circus Boltini . She was a multi-talented linguist and, in addition to Dutch , spoke English , French , Swedish , German and Danish . In 1963 she got her first record deal in Sweden . In 1964 the German version of their title Johnny Loves Me appeared as Johnny komm ' . Suzie had her first success in Germany, which was followed by more until 1966. As early as 1965 she was part of the Dutch team of interpreters that won the Knokke Song Festival . In 1967 the singer moved from the Vogue record label to Ariola . In 1969, at the height of her career, the singer withdrew from show business to devote herself to her family. Suzie recorded records in Sweden until 1972.

Suzie later opened a bar in Täby with her second husband . In 1980 she worked for a travel company and from 1983 as a saleswoman in the traditional Stockholm department store Nordiska Kompaniet ( NK ). Suzie, who had held Swedish citizenship since the early 1960s, moved to North Maling in the mid-1980s .

On March 5, 2008, she was found dead in her home. The autopsy revealed that she had died two days earlier, the cause of death was not disclosed.
