Sven Sonnenberg (born January 19, 1999 in Berlin ) is a German football player. The defender has been under contract with Hansa Rostock since 2019 .

Career

Born and raised in Berlin, Sonnenberg moved with his family to Koblenz as a teenager . There he played in the offspring of TuS Koblenz . In 2014 he moved down the Rhine to Cologne, where he played for 1. FC Cologne from then on . First two seasons in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga , where he came to 48 appearances for the Domstadt team. He also recommended himself for the junior national teams of the German Football Association , for which he played four games in the U16 , seven in the U17 and one in the U18 . With the U17 he also took part in the 2016 European Championship in Azerbaijan , where he was used twice. In the same year he outgrew the U17 and rose to the Cologne U19 team, with which Sonnenberg made 37 appearances in the A-Junior Bundesliga in the two following seasons . In 2018 he then made the leap to the second team of 1. FC Cologne, which ended the season in ninth place, to which the defender contributed with two goals in 20 appearances.

In the following season, Sonnenberg finally moved to third division Hansa Rostock . Here the right-footed player made his debut at the age of 20 on the fourth matchday of the 2019/20 season in the game against SpVgg Unterhaching .
