TKİ ( Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri Kurumu ) Tavşanlı Linyitspor is a Turkish football club from Tavşanlı ( Kütahya Province ). Tavşanlı Linyitspor was founded in 1943 for employees and relatives of the TKİ (Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri Kurumu) GLİ (Garp Linyitleri İşletmesi), a state-owned coal company.

For a long time Tavşanlı was a rather insignificant provincial club of the TFF 3rd Lig , but this changed suddenly after coach Mustafa Reşit Akçay took over the team in October 2010. Akçay surprisingly led the club to the first ascent in the club's history in the TFF 1st Lig , after the relegation was won, despite limited financial possibilities . In their first year in the second highest Turkish league, the 2010/11 season , they continued their run and even took second place in the table for a short time. At the end of the season they finally reached the relegation of the TFF 1st Lig and missed here in the penultimate instance the promotion to theSuper Lig . In addition to soccer, the club also has an oil wrestling department.

history

Beginnings

Tavşanlı Linyitspor was founded in 1943 under the name GLİ Gençlik Kulübü for employees and relatives who work for TKİ (Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri Kurumu). From the 1984/85 season, the club played in the 3rd Lig for eleven years . In the 1995/96 season you had to relegate, only in the 2006/07 season succeeded in returning to the TFF 3rd Lig and thus to professional football . After the 2008/09 season they were promoted to third place in the TFF 2. Lig .

Promotion & Time in the TFF 1st Lig

In October 2010 the club was taken over by Mustafa Resit Akçay, Akçay achieved the first and surprising ascent in the club's history to the second highest Turkish league, the TFF 1st Lig with Tavsanli . After taking sixth place at the end of the season, you qualified for the relegation, which you could win. In the relegation, the team met Adana Demirspor , who could be defeated 5-3 on penalties after the game ended 0-0 after 120 minutes. Then they defeated Trabzon Karadenizspor 1-0 and advanced to the final, where the promotion was made perfect after a 2-1 win against Eyüpspor . The previously neglected provincial association suddenly gained national recognition due to the fact that its financial resources are limited. Up until three years ago amateur football was played, but practically overnight they made it to the second highest division of the Turkish football system.

Her first season ( 2010/11 ) in the TFF 1st Lig started disappointingly. Their first win was only achieved on the 7th matchday with a 1-0 away win against Giresunspor , Mehmet Akyüz scored the goal in the 46th minute. Akyüz 'goal was Tavşanlıs first goal ever in the TFF 1. Lig. From the 16th to the 24th game day inclusive, the team lost no game, this series was only ended by a 3-0 defeat against Samsunspor on March 12, 2011. After taking sixth place at the end of the season, they were able to participate in the relegation to the Süper Lig - again to everyone's surprise . There the team met Gaziantep BBSK , the other surprise team of the season. In the home game they lost 1: 2, the second leg then won Tavşanlı 1-0, but was eliminated due to the away goals rule. Akçay left Tavşanlı Linyitspor after the end of the season after falling out with the local Tavşanlı press (Akçay refused to disclose the season's goals). His successor was Coşkun Demirbakan .

In the 2011/12 season the league could be achieved with eleventh place and 43 points collected. In the 2012/13 season you had to worry about relegation until the last day of play, on the last day of the game there was a direct duel with relegation competitor Göztepe Izmir in the Izmir Ataturk Stadium . Before the game Tavşanlı was with 35 points in 16th place in the table, which would mean relegation, while Göztepe was 15th with 37 points, so Göztepe would have already been enough to keep a draw, while Tavşanlı had to win to the class to be able to hold. In a dramatic relegation game, Akeem Agbetu then scored the 1-0 winning goal in the 79th minute after a respectable combination game and thus secured his club relegation. Finally, you had to accept relegation in the following season, the 2013/14 season , despite some convincing games, including a 2-4 away win over Manisaspor and a 4-0 win against the later promoted Mersin İdman Yurdu . After the relegation after a 1: 2 home defeat against Gazaintap BBSK on the 37th matchday was certain, there were riots after the game. After the final whistle, fans tore out chairs and threw them towards the field, outside the stadium there were riots with the police. During the season there were also problems between the club and the players due to outstanding salary payments, which is why the players protested several times, including taking off their jerseys after a game against Mersin Idman Yurdu and throwing them at the feet of the board at one In the game against Orduspor , the starting line-up stood still for 15 seconds after the game had kicked off, arm in arm at the center line, but the Orduspor players behaved fairly and waited until the Tavşanlı players started playing again.

Freefall

In the third division season 2014/15 Tavşanlı Linyitspor was already in the group white on the 33rd match day, five game days before the end of the season, fixed as the first relegated and finished the season as bottom of the table. Relegated to the TFF 3rd Lig , the club also fought to stay in the league. The season ended the club in 17th place in the table and said goodbye to professional football.

Fans

Tavşanlı Linyitspor has two fan groups called Neşter and Group Murat Gazi . Usually the Neşter group is in the main stand, while the Murat Gazi group is behind the gate. The number of fans professing themselves to Tavşanlı Linyitspor increased, especially after the first promotion to the TFF 1. Lig , but the attendance figures are rather small, except for the two ultra groups, especially since they play in a stadium that is not particularly large anyway. The Tavşanlı fans have not yet cultivated friendships with fans of other clubs, and there is also no arch rival (yet).
