The Tajik Armed Forces ( Russian Қувваҳои Мусаллаҳи Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон ; Quvvahoi Musallahi Çumhurii Toçikiston ) make up the military of the Republic of Tajikistan with 8,000 soldiers .

The Tajik military is divided into the army , air force , domestic troops and national guard . Due to the landlocked location of the country, it has no navy .

General

The defense budget in 2010 was $ 84.3 million and the United States provided military aid of $ 1.5 million in the same year .

There is general conscription with a service period of 24 months.

army

The army with 7,300 members is divided into three motorized rifle brigades (one of which is for training purposes), an airborne brigade , a mountain infantry brigade , an artillery brigade and an anti-aircraft regiment .

An equipment 30 are T-72 - Tank , 7 T-62 -Kampfpanzer, 8 BMP-1 - armored , 15 BMP-2 -Schützenpanzer, 23 BTR-60 / -70 / -80 - team armored transport vehicle , 12 122 mm-D -30 -Haubitzen, 10 122 mm-BM-21 - multiple rocket launchers and 10 120 mm grenade launcher present.

The 2K8 Falanga and 9K11 Maljutka anti-tank weapons are also used.

air force

The air force with its 1500 members is divided into two squadrons .

It has a civil registered Tu-134A (CRUSTY) , four Mi-24 (HIND) attack helicopters and twelve Mi-8 / -17TM transport helicopters .

For air defense, the Air Force has Floor air missile systems FIM Stinger 92 , SA-7 Grail , SA-2 Guideline and SA-3 Goa used.

Tajikistan has a further 3,800 soldiers as internal troops and a 1,200 national guard , whose primary task is to ensure personal protection for the Tajik President.
