The Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaja-Line ( Russian Таганско-Краснопресненская линия ), also called "Line 7" or "Purple Line", is a line of the Moscow Metro .

Stations

Shchukinskaya Station

The station planned as Wolokolamskaya was for many years a " ghost station ". It lies between the Tushinskaya and Shchukinskaya stations , was created in 1975 when the associated section of the route was built and was to be opened a few years later. Originally it was supposed to offer the residents of a large residential area, which was to be built in place of the Tuschino airfield , a subway connection. After this project was discarded, the station was not completed either. In their facility, initially only the shell of the platform hall was built. In the 2000s, plans arose to complete the access point after all and to give it the name Spartak Stadium because a stadium for the Spartak Moscow football club was to be built on the airfield site . It went into operation on August 27, 2014, now called Spartak .

Depot and vehicles

The trains on the line are located in two depots - the Wychino depot, which has existed since the line was opened, and the Planernoje depot , which went into operation in 1975 . Eight-car trains of the older E series or their modifications Еж3 / Ем508Т are used. Between 2003 and 2011, all trains on the line underwent a general overhaul, one of the aims of which is to increase the space capacity while saving costs compared to the otherwise necessary purchase of new vehicles. For this purpose, the driver's cabs of the cars running in the middle of the train were expanded. In addition, when the trains were modernized, their interiors were largely renewed, in particular new seats were installed and the interior lighting switched from the old incandescent lamps to fluorescent lamps . The planned useful life of the wagons was extended by 15 years through the modernization.

  • December 31, 1966: The line opens. The 12.9 kilometer long southeast branch from Taganskaya to Wychino (at that time Zhdanovskaya ) including the depot goes into operation. Wychino station is the only station on the line that is above ground.
  • January 3, 1971: The line is extended to Moscow's old town. The new section is 2.1 km long and includes the new Kitai-Gorod station , at that time Ploshchad Nogina . This station is an innovation for the Moscow Metro: It contains four tracks and two separate station halls and for the first time offers passengers a platform-level transfer option, here between lines 6 and 7.
  • December 30, 1972: The northwest branch of the line - 7.2 km from Barrikadnaya to Oktyabrskoje Pole - is opened. For the next three years, the two branches function as two separate lines.
  • December 17, 1975: The 4.1 km long gap between Barrikadnaja and Ploschtschad Nogina is closed. From now on the line is called the Zhdanovsko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line .
  • December 30, 1975: The last north-west extension to Planernaja goes into operation. It is 9.6 km long and contains four new stations, a partially finished station ( Wolokolamskaya , see above under stations) and a new depot.
  • November 9, 2013: The extension in the southeast to Schulebino (intermediate station Lermontowski Prospekt ) goes into operation.
  • September 21, 2015: The southeast branch is extended by one more station to Kotelniki and thus extends beyond Moscow's city limits.

Renaming

Two stations on the line were subsequently renamed: The Ploshchad Nogina station in Kitai-Gorod (1990) and the Zhdanovskaya station in Vikhino (1989). Since the station name Zhdanovskaya was one of the two "namesake" of the line, which until then was called "Zhdanowsko-Krasnopresnenskaya", the line itself was renamed at the same time as it was renamed; it got its current name.

Expansion planning

The northwestern outer branch of the line is currently considered complete. An extension is only planned to the southeast: in the very long term, the line could be extended further to the satellite town of Lyubertsy .

The Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line is on average the most used - and therefore also the most congested - line on the Moscow Metro. The trains are hopelessly overcrowded on weekdays during rush hour, which is not least due to the fact that the line is used very heavily by commuters from the Moscow area . This leads to a complete blockage of the Wychino station , which has a transition from and to the local trains and numerous intercity bus routes , especially in the morning rush hour . A partial relief of this station resulted with the extension to Schulebino , but otherwise the capacity of the line can hardly be increased.
