Takeru Otsuka (born April 2, 2001 ) is a Japanese snowboarder . He starts in the disciplines of slopestyle and big air .

Career

Otsuka has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2013 and the FIS since 2015 . In January 2017 he won the European Cup in Vars in Slopestyle and took second place in Big Air in Font Romeu . In March 2017 he became the Japanese big air champion and finished 26th in slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail . In the same month he started in Špindlerův Mlýn for the first time in the World Cup and achieved 58th place in slopestyle. At the beginning of April 2017 he won the Slopestyle World Rookie Finals on the Kitzsteinhorn . In the 2017/18 season he finished eighth at the Burton US Open, third at the Grandvalira Total Fight and first at the World Rookie Finals on the Kitzsteinhorn in Slopestyle. At the X-Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu , he won the gold medal in Big Air. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he won gold medals in both Slopestyle and Big Air at the 2018/19 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Cardrona . At the following World Cup in Cardrona, he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place in Big Air and his first World Cup victory in Big Air in Modena at the beginning of November 2018 . This was followed by a second place in Big Air in Beijing and another victory in the Secret Garden Skiresort in slopestyle. It won the Big Air World Cup and came second in the Freestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2019 in Aspen , he won the gold medal in Big Air. There he also came 18th in slopestyle. In February 2019, he finished fifth in slopestyle at the World Championships in Park City .
