Tankred Stöbe (born February 1, 1969 in Nuremberg ) is a German internist , paramedic and author. Since 2015 he has been a member of the international board of Médecins sans frontières (Doctors Without Borders) . From 2007 to 2015 he was President of the German section of Doctors Without Borders.

Live and act

Stöbe graduated from high school in 1989 and began training as a nurse at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in 1990 . He broke off his training when he got a place in medicine in 1991. At the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald, he completed the pre-clinical part of his medical studies. After a short period of study at the Free University of Berlin , he completed most of the clinical part of his medical studies from 1994 at the University of Witten / Herdecke , where he passed his state examination in 1998 . Stöbe initially worked as an intern at the Havelhöhe Community Hospital in Berlin , then as an emergency doctor and intensive care doctor at the Herdecke Community Hospital (both institutions for anthroposophic medicine ), and since 2004 again at the Havelhöhe Community Hospital . In 2000 Stöbe received the full license to practice medicine, in 2001 he acquired the certificate of qualification for the rescue service and has been performing rescue operations ever since. Stöbe received his doctorate with the thesis The acute myocardial infarction in diabetes mellitus - acute and long-term course after interventional therapy to the Dr. med. (2002). In 2007 he completed his training as a specialist in internal medicine and subsequently qualified as an intensive care doctor ( 2011) and as an emergency doctor and chief emergency doctor (2016).

Between 2002 and 2015, Stöbe was on a voluntary medical assignment, mostly lasting several weeks, fifteen times in twelve different countries for Doctors Without Borders . In addition, between 2005 and 2016 he made so-called field visits in fourteen countries to hold briefings with local teams. Stöbe has been a board member of the German section of Doctors Without Borders since 2004, and was its president from 2007 to 2015. Since 2005 he has been a member of the board of the Amsterdam Operational Center, and in 2015 he was elected to the international board of the organization. The German Medical Association drew 2016 Stöbe "on behalf of the German medical profession a physician for his medical stance and his unwavering commitment" to the Paracelsus Medal from, their highest award. He had "saved countless human lives around the world and thus rendered outstanding services to the reputation of the German medical profession nationally and internationally."
