Tasikmalaya

Tasikmalaya is a city in southeastern West Java , Indonesia , between Bandung and Purwokerto on the southern of the two major routes through Java . It is also the capital of the eponymous Kabupaten (administrative district).
The city is located in the mountainous region "Preanger" at an altitude of 351 meters.
Natural disasters
On April 5, 1982, the Galunggung volcano erupted and caused great damage. He also forced a temporary evacuation of the area.
1996 riots
The city of Tasikmalaya was also the site of a high-profile uprising in 1996. Four people were killed, several churches and dozens of mostly Chinese companies were destroyed. These uprisings were the start of numerous similar unrest across Java.
