The Technoclub in Frankfurt am Main , at times also called Techno Club DG ("DG" for Dorian Gray ), was the first organizer in the world to exclusively play electronic dance music and develop into one of the most successful club projects in the German techno scene.

history

In 1984 the techno club was founded by Talla 2XLC and Matthias Haibach , the first party took place on December 2nd. The team was later supplemented by Alex Azary and Michel Greulich. The name is made up of technology and club . “Technology” stood for technological progress and “electronics” and was intended to express that only electronic music was played (initially mainly electropop and EBM , later the parties were mixed with house , new beat and early techno ). The term techno as a style of music was used as early as 1982 by Talla 2XLC, who sorted electronic music into the “techno” category in a Frankfurt record shop.

The techno club always took place on Sunday afternoons at No Name in downtown Frankfurt . It also became the first after- hour club for visitors to Dorian Gray .

The location of the event changed from No Name to Roxanne (over the Frankfurter Zeil), to Omen and finally to Dorian Gray . In the Omen, the techno club was one of the first to hold acid house and new beat parties in Germany . In 1989 the Technoclub team published the first issue of the fanzine Frontpage , which developed into one of the most famous German magazines for electronic music. At the beginning, the editor-in-chief was Armin Johnert, who comes from the techno club environment . A club-owned compilation series with artists from the EBM , electro , trance and techno environment appeared on the New Zone label from 1990 .

After the Dorian Gray was closed in 2000, regular techno club events were held again from 2004, first in the Frankfurt Club Café Royal , later in the Stocks stock exchange and in the SoundZ in Rödermark. From October 2006 to April 2011 the techno club had a series of parties in the Frankfurt club U60311 . Then they moved to Monza, which is also located in the city of Frankfurt .

Two years later, after the club had been converted into a so-called off-location, the company moved to the renowned MTW Club in Offenbach. Events with international and national DJs and acts take place here every first Saturday of the month. Both currently world-famous DJs from the trance and progressive scene as well as lavish classic parties with DJs from "back then" are presented.
