Ted Benoît

Thierry Benoît (born July 25, 1947 in Niort , † September 30, 2016 in Paris ) was a French comic artist .

After studying at the Institute des Hautes Etudes des Cinématographiques, he began drawing comics in the early 1970s and was able to publish his first short stories in magazines. This was followed by publications in the comic magazines L'Écho des Savanes and Métal hurlant . The first album, Hôpital , was released in 1979 and received the award for the best scenario at the Angoulême comic parlor . His next album, Vers la Ligne Claire, was also very successful. With this work he began to take up the Ligne claire style and to develop it further in a more modern form. In his 1982 comic book Ray Bananaand the following works he builds on it. He is considered one of the stylistic artists of the atomic style .

With Jean Van Hamme , Ted Benoît took over the classic Blake and Mortimer series from Edgar P. Jacobs in 1996 , which he had discontinued in 1971. The new episodes of this series are very successful in France and Belgium.
