Tempest Storm (* 29. February 1928 as Annie Blanche Banks in Eastman , Georgia ) is an American Burlesque - dancer and film actress .

Life

Being a victim of child abuse through her stepfather , she left home early. At the age of 20 she was divorced twice. She moved to Hollywood to work as a dancer, but thanks to her figure and charisma, she became a popular burlesque dancer.

After a few years on the stage of a burlesque theater in Oakland and other clubs in the States, including Las Vegas , she was featured in a number of magazines. She has appeared in burlesque films, including Russ Meyer's French Peep Show (1950), Paris After Midnight (1951), Striptease Girl (1952) and with Bettie Page in Irving Klaw's Teaserama (1955). During the 1950s and 1960s she also acted in several feature films; she portrayed herself, but also played character roles . Along with Lili St. Cyr and Blaze Starr , she was one of the most famous burlesque artists of the time and had affairs with John F. Kennedy , Elvis Presley , Sammy Davis Jr. and Vic Damone .

Together with the author Bill Boyd, she published a biography under the title Tempest Storm: The Lady Is a Vamp in 1987 . She was inducted into Dixie Evans ' Hall of Fame at the Exotic World Burlesque Museum in Helendale; her G-string is part of the exhibition. Her career is considered one of the longest in the genre, officially retiring at the age of 67; but she still performs occasionally, for example she stripped in 1999 in San Francisco to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the O'Farrell Theater .

Storm was married a total of four times. Her daughter Patricia comes from her last, also divorced, marriage to singer and actor Herb Jeffries . Tempest Storm lives in Las Vegas.
