Tempio has a train station on the Sassari – Palau railway line , which is only served by trains from the so-called Trenino Verde in summer . Trains run from Tempio to Palau and from Tempio to Sassari . The listed railway station was built at the end of the 1930s when Tempio became a junction in the narrow-gauge network of Ferrovie della Sardegna , or FdS for short, and the now disused and partially dismantled Monti – Tempio Pausania railway and the Sassari – Palau railway met in Tempio . The train station itself is in the valley below the large Largo XXV Aprile. In the wood-paneled waiting hall, folkloric oil paintings run along as a frieze (no frescoes, but wooden panels). They show typical scenes from Sardinian village life in a large-scale, figurative style. They come from Giuseppe Biasi from Sassari. He received 750 lire for the commissioned work to beautify the then new train station.
