Ten Boer ( listen ? / I ) was a municipality in the Dutch province of Groningen , with 7283 inhabitants (as of September 30, 2018). It was 45.73 km² in size. On January 1, 2019, Haren and Ten Boer were affiliated to the municipality of Groningen . Audio file / audio sample

Because many residents moved to the provincial capital Groningen in the 1950s , there are not many jobs in the commercial sector. Agriculture and tourism currently dominate.

Due to the merger on January 1, 2019, the elections for the council of the (new) municipality of Groningen took place on November 21, 2018.

Frank de Vries ( PvdA ) was the provisional mayor of the municipality from October 1, 2017 until the municipality was dissolved . His colleagues included the alderman Peter Heidema ( CDA ), Annie Postma ( GroenLinks ) and the community secretary Leo Bosdijk.
