Teresa Maryańska

Teresa Maryańska (born May 27, 1937 in Warsaw ; † October 3, 2019 ibid) was a Polish paleontologist who studied dinosaurs and was considered one of the world's leading experts.

Career

Maryańska studied in Warsaw with a degree in geology in 1960 and a doctorate in paleontology (bryzozoa of the tertiary) in 1967.

From 1961 until her retirement in 2006 she was at the Museum der Erde (Warsaw) , where she was deputy director from 1976.

She dealt in particular with dinosaurs from Mongolia (Gobi Desert), where she was involved in several large expeditions (1964, 1965, 1970, 1971). She often worked with Halszka Osmólska . In particular, she dealt with ankylosaurs , but also protoceratopsids , hadrosaurs , oviraptors and introduced the taxon pachycephalosauria with Osmólska .
