Terry Moore (born January 7, 1929 in Los Angeles , California ; actually Helen Luella Koford ) is an American actress .

Live and act

Her career as an actress began the former child model at the age of 11 years, in the film when she 1940 Maryland by Henry King took a small role. Until the end of the 1940s, she was mainly seen in other small supporting roles. In 1942 she acted in the comedy Dick and Doof on a secret mission and two years later she played the role of young Paula Alquist in Das Haus der Lady Alquist, where she appeared under her real name Helen Koford , as well as Jan Ford and Judy Ford . In 1948 Moore took on her first lead role in the film comedy A Horse Called October and chose Terry Moore as her stage name. In the 1950s and 1960s she was seen in numerous films such as A Man on a Wire , Daddy Long Legs , Embers under the Ashes and Black Spurs .

Increasingly, Moore also took on roles on television, for example in 1967 in three episodes of the television series Batman . With the beginning of the 1970s, her appearances became less frequent, in this decade she was involved in only five productions. In the 1980s, she was a guest star on television series such as Knight Rider and made some B-movies such as American Boyfriends . During this time she also founded the cosmetics company Moore's More and, in 1984, at the age of 55, retired for Playboy . To this day she is active as an actress, especially for television series and independent films. She was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .

Private life

Terry Moore was married a total of six times, including the American football player Glenn Davis (1951-1952). The marriage with Stuart Cramer, which lasted from 1959 to 1972, resulted in two children, including their son Grant Cramer , who also switched to acting.

According to her own statement, she was the secret wife of Howard Hughes from 1949 until his death in 1976 . A divorce would never have taken place. About this relationship she published the two books The Beauty and the Billionaire (1984) and The Passions of Howard Hughes (1996). Moore's claim of marriage to Hughes is controversial, but her longstanding relationship with him is secure.
