The Thổ Chu Islands ( Vietnamese Quần đảo Thổ Chu ) are a Vietnamese group of islands in the Gulf of Thailand .
geography
It consists of seven islands, by far the largest main island Thổ Chu has a diameter of about 3.5 kilometers. The islands are about 150 kilometers from the mainland.

The archipelago forms a municipality in the Phú Quốc District , Kiên Giang Province .
history
In 1975, the Khmer Rouge deported all 500 residents to Cambodia and killed them. In 1993 the islands were repopulated.
Plane crash
The Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is the biggest unsolved mysteries of aviation history. The Boeing 777 was on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. On March 8, 2014 at 1:21 a.m. local time, the aircraft disappeared from air traffic control surveillance. At the time it was located 250 km south of the Thổ-Chu archipelago. It has since been considered missing and has not been found to this day.
