The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown was a British psychedelic rock band around the singer Arthur Brown , which had a single big commercial success with their hit Fire in 1968. The single Fire reached number 3 on the official German single charts and stayed in the top 10 for ten weeks. The album Crazy World of Arthur Brown reached number 7 on the Billboard Music Charts.

Band history

Arthur Brown previously sang in groups such as Blues and Brown , Southwest Five , Arthur Brown Union, and Arthur Brown Set . In 1967 he founded The Crazy World of Arthur Brown with Vincent Crane , which quickly found fans, especially among the underground audience.

The hit Fire came in 1968 . The song was one of the so-called one-hit wonders in Great Britain and the USA in the 1960s. The first album is considered a classic of psychedelic rock music of the late 1960s. It includes cover versions of pieces by Screamin 'Jay Hawkins and James Brown . Their own composition Fire was an international bestseller as a single.

The cast practically disbanded during the 1969 US tour. Vincent Crane and Carl Palmer left the band to form Atomic Rooster . Nick Greenwood joined the band Khan (as Nicholas Greenwood), Theaker joined Love and later Rustic Hinge, and finally Brown founded Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come . He was also featured on Alan Parsons' first album as a singer.

In 2000, Brown reanimated The Crazy World of Arthur Brown with a number of young musicians. In autumn 2013 he went on a one-week tour of Germany with this line-up. In 2015, some more concerts will follow, including in Germany.
