background

  • After a week of shooting and only a month of editing time, the film opened in US cinemas on April 25, 2003. The box office profits were over five million dollars on a budget of seven million dollars.
  • Laura Ramsey became the only cast member to become a professional actress after appearing on The Real Cancun.
  • In 2003 the film was nominated for the Golden Raspberry as the worst film, but lost to love with risk - Gigli .
  • The Real Cancun advertised being the first reality movie, even though the similar film Beach Party Animals was released just a month earlier .
