The Shepherd is an American animated short film directed by Cameron Guess in 1967.

action

Shepherd Harry wants to make a career with his flock of sheep in the big city. He moves from company to company with his animals and speaks ahead, but quickly realizes that there are no jobs for shepherds in the big city. He sends his sheep back to the country and gives up working as a shepherd. Harry throws his shepherd's stick off the Brooklyn Bridge and begins distance learning. In the end he passes the final exam and is now an officially licensed farrier.

The Shepherd was animated by Derek Lamb, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. After The Well (1965) it was the second film that Cameron Guess produced with his company Cameron Guess & Associates .

Awards

The Shepherd was nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " in 1971 , but couldn't stand against Is It Always Right to Be Right? push through.
