Skids
Skids were a British punk band from Dunfermline .
Career
Founded in 1977 and part of the first wave of punk, the most important punk band in Scotland at the time , and also hit the charts in 1979. The heads of the band were Stuart Adamson and Richard Jobson, who wrote much of the musical program. Richard Jobson was also the only member who was there until the end. From the beginning, skids suffered from frequent membership changes. In total, they spent half a year in the British charts with various singles , the single Into the Valley made it into the top 10 and led to an appearance on Top of the Pops .
They were prominently sampled in the 1990s by the Manic Street Preachers in the song Motown Junk . In 2006 her title The Saints Are Coming was covered by U2 and Green Day in favor of the victims of Hurricane Katrina . Another cover of this song was created in 2008 by the group Von Thronstahl .
Stuart Adamson formed Big Country in 1981 and the alternative country band The Raphaels in the 1990s . He died of suicide in Honolulu in December 2001 .
