The Temper Trap is an Australian rock band from Melbourne .

Band history

Dougy Mandagi, who immigrated to Australia from Indonesia and worked as a street musician, met drummer Toby Dundas while working in a shop in Melbourne, and they both decided to start a band. They performed together with the bass player Jonathan Aherne, whom Mandagi had met six years earlier. The line-up of guitarist changed for a year before Lorenzo Sillitto, a friend of Dundas', whose band had just broken up, completed the final formation of The Temper Trap .

They toured all over Australia and released their own EP in 2006. Eventually the British producer Jim Abbiss became aware of them. With him they recorded their debut album Conditions . In the fall of 2008, they released their first single, Sweet Disposition . There were also international appearances, for example at Musexpo in London, at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York and at South by Southwest . They also played at the Southside Festival and Hurricane Festival in Germany. The band was included in the 2009 BBC ( Sound of 2009 ) and New Musical Express predictions for successful artists .

After the album was completed, it was released in Australia in June 2009, where it entered the top 10 of the album charts. The four musicians had previously moved to Great Britain, where the single and album were released in August. Both were also able to place themselves in the local charts. Sweet Disposition gained additional popularity through its use in a Peugeot commercial and its inclusion in the soundtrack of the film 500 Days of Summer . Deichmann had also chosen the song Sweet Disposition for his Graceland campaign . The rest of the year The Temper Trap toured the UK, USA and all of Western Europe. 2011 was in the eleventh episode of Murder with a View ( Fatal curriculum ) to hear Love Lost .
