Themba Muziwakhe Nicholas Kubheka

Themba Muziwakhe Nicholas Kubheka (born February 17, 1948 ) is a former activist of the African National Congress (ANC) and a South African diplomat .

Life

In 1969 he received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles , in 1971 he received a Master of Arts from New York University , and in 1979 he received his doctorate in educational policy and administration from the University of Cambridge . In 1984 he participated in a Distinguished College Teachers Fellowship from Yale University . In 1982 and 1992 he participated in a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Boston University .

In 1973 he was a founding member of the National Youth Organization (NAYO), which he organized in Natal Province . In 1974 he clandestinely joined the ANC, was arrested and sentenced to the banned National Youth Organization ( NAYO trial ) in 1976; then he went into exile. In the German Democratic Republic he completed a six-month traineeship as a journalist and was then employed by the Sechaba Publications , the organ of the ANC.

In 1978 he prepared the opening of a representation of the ANC in East Berlin . In 1981 he became the second representative of the ANC in the Scandinavian countries. From 1985 to 1990 he was a representative of the ANC in Copenhagen and Reykjavík and in this function was able to support the ANC and other anti- apartheid groups in South Africa. In 1994 he became the coordinator of the ANC in the government of KwaZulu-Natal . In 1997 he joined the Foreign Service of South Africa. From 1999 to November 8, 2001 he was ambassador to Copenhagen , from November 8, 2001 to 2005 he was ambassador to Beijing and was also accredited to Pyongyang . In 2003 his second wife and their son died in a traffic accident.

From 2005 to 2009 he was ambassador to Luanda .
