Theodor Birt
Theodor Birt (born March 22, 1852 in Wandsbek ; † January 28, 1933 in Marburg ) was a German classical philologist and writer . He also used the name of the humanist Beatus Rhenanus as a pseudonym .
After studying in Leipzig and Bonn from 1873 to 1876 , he completed his habilitation in 1878 in Marburg . Here he also taught until 1921, since 1886 as a full professor . From 1902 to 1903 he was rector of the University of Marburg.
He belonged to the ancient philological branch of the Philological-Historical Association , which later became part of the Marburg fraternity of Rhine Franconia through the scientific connection Hercynia .
A street in Wandsbek was named after him.

In the archives of the brothers Andreas & Paul Remmel's Bernstein Verlag in Bonn there is a bundle of handwritten lecture notes by Theodor Birt, which date from his student days in Bonn.
