Theodor Husemann 1833–1901

Theodor Gottfried Valentin Husemann (born January 13, 1833 in Detmold , † February 13, 1901 in Göttingen ) was a German physician , pharmacologist and university professor .

Life

Husemann studied medicine from 1850 at the universities of Göttingen , Würzburg , Berlin and Prague . In Berlin doctorate he on 27 December 1854 by Dr. med. He was a doctor in 1855 Principality lip , before he himself in 1865 as Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in Göttingen habilitation .

Husemann was appointed professor of pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Göttingen in 1873 . A reputation as a professor at the University of Marburg he refused. From 1881 to 1883 he was also a member of the German Pharmacopoeia Commission , and he was also an expert in several murder trials .

Of his writings, his handbooks in particular received attention. He had published some of these with his cousin, the chemist and pharmacist August Husemann . Husemann also worked on the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie .

Honors

After him, the plant genus Husemannia F. Muell. named from the menispermaceae family.
