Thomas Ashton, 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde
Thomas John Ashton, 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde (born November 19, 1926 - August 2, 2008 ) was a British bank manager and peer.
life and career
Ashton was the eldest son of Thomas Ashton, 2nd Baron Ashton of Hyde , and Marjorie Nell Brookes. He succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde when he died on March 21, 1983.
He attended Eton College and New College , Oxford . He reached the rank of major with the "Royal Gloucestershire Hussars". He held the office of Justice of the Peace for Oxfordshire from 1965 to 1968. He was a director of Barclays Bank from 1969 to 1987.
With the reform of the House of Lords in 1999, he left there as a member.
family
On March 18, 1957, Ashton married Pauline Trewlove Brackenbury, the daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Henry Langton Brackenbury, and had four children with her.
Ashton died in August 2008; the title passed to the eldest son.
