Thomas Stühlmeyer (born December 10, 1964 in Melle ) is a German Catholic pastoral theologian and pastor .

biography

Born into a family of church musicians , Thomas Stühlmeyer gained his first experience in the parish of St. Matthäus (Melle) , which was the model parish of the Osnabrück diocese in the 1970s . He received music lessons at the Conservatory in Osnabrück and at the church music seminar of the Diocese of Osnabrück, he passed the church music C examination with cathedral organist Professor Winfried Schlepphorst .

After high school at high school in Melle , he studied theology and philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological University Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt and at the Milltown Institute in Dublin ( Ireland ). At the Theological Faculty of Paderborn he received his doctorate in 2002 with the topic: Changes in the understanding of the text through bibliodrama: an empirical study on MK 4, 35 - 41 EU , a standard work in pastoral psychology .

Thomas Stühlmeyer has been a priest of the Diocese of Osnabrück since 1992 , initially as chaplain in Sögel-Clemenswerth and since 2002 as pastor in Osnabrück, and since 2015 at St. John's Church . Stühlmeyer was u. a. Member of the Liturgical Commission and from 2009 to 2012 head of the steering group of the diocese-wide catechetical process. He traveled to the American continent with the aim of studying church structures and parish life.

At the suggestion of the Federal Executive of the Caritas Conferences for Germany, the German Bishops' Conference 2020 appointed him spiritual companion of the CKD.

Thomas Stühlmeyer's grandfather Heinrich Stühlmeyer was a "silent hero of the resistance against National Socialism " who was brought to the Emsland camp in 1940 because of his commitment to the Catholic Church and those persecuted by the Third Reich . His brothers are the cantor and composer Ludger Stühlmeyer and the deacon Klaus Stühlmeyer.
