Thomas Wizany

Thomas Wizany (born November 1, 1967 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian architect and cartoonist .

Thomas Wizany studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (master class by Gustav Peichl ). He attended the illustration (1985 Luis Murschetz ) and architecture (1986 Otto Steidle , 1987 Gustav Peichl) classes at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg . After graduating in 1992, he worked in the Peichl studio. Long study stays in Dijon and Siena followed. From 1993 to 2004 he worked as an architect in Salzburg. Since then, Wizany has focused on exhibition design. In the years 2005 to 2014, the redesign of Mozart's birthplace in Salzburg, as well as the Nannerl Museum in St.Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang and the St.Peter Museum in the DomQuartier-Salzburg.

Thomas Wizany has been a cartoonist for the Salzburger Nachrichten since 1987 , where his caricatures can be found on the front page every Saturday. He also works for Der Spiegel magazine and Ecowin Verlag .

Thomas Wizany has three sons.

Awards

  • 1984 1st prize in a caricature competition on the subject of " Fred Sinowatz ".
  • 2011 Austrian Nature Conservation Prize for special services to education and information in the field of environmental science and nature conservation
  • 2007 René Marcic - Prize for Journalism from the State of Salzburg
  • 1998 Siegfried Marcus - Prize for excellent caricatures on the subject of cars and traffic
