Athletic career

Thorsten Boer comes from the youth division at Dynamo Halle-Neustadt . He came to BFC Dynamo in 1989 through Dynamo Eisleben and Dynamo Fürstenwalde . The successful league times of the ten-time GDR champions were already history at this point. After BFC Dynamo had missed direct qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga , Boer moved to Chemnitzer FC in 1991 . The offensive midfielder acted quite successfully at the Himmelblauen for over two years, resulting in a change to the financially more lucrative tennis Borussia Berlin .

Just one season later, Boer moved to local rivals 1. FC Union Berlin , for whom he played for a total of five years until 1999. The time at Union was marked by chaos, which almost ended in bankruptcy. In 1999 Boer hired again at BFC Dynamo, a move that not many professionals would have survived without hostility. Boer is one of the few players who was accepted and popular with both fan groups.

In 2001 Boer switched to Köpenicker SC , where he let his career end in 2003. Subsequently, Boer acted as a trainer at KSC, the highlight was reaching the finals in the Berlin State Cup in 2007 . After he was able to prevail with Köpenick in the semifinals against the BFC, he lost 7-0 in the final against Union Berlin.
