Tigran Abramowitsch Alichanow

Tigran Abramowitsch Alichanow ( Russian Тигран Абрамович Алиханов ; born January 22, 1943 in Moscow ) is a Russian pianist . He was the rector of the Moscow Conservatory from 2005 to 2009 .

Life

He was born in Moscow, received his first piano lessons at the special music school of the Moscow Conservatory, entered the Moscow Conservatory itself in 1961 and was a student in the piano class of Lev Oborin , one of the most renowned Russian pianists and long-time partner of David Oistrakh , with the he formed the famous David Oistrach Trio together with the cellist Swjatoslaw Knuschewizki. Tigran Alichanow has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory since 1971 and became a professor in 1989. Several of his students won prizes in international competitions, such as the duos Sch. Aubakirowa / G. Mursabekowa and I. Schelesnowa / M. Schelesnow and Katja Huhn (as Jekaterina Tschikowa).

In 1967 he won a prize at the international Marguerite Long piano competition in Paris , which marked the beginning of an international career that took him through the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc countries , but also through Western Europe , the USA and South Africa . He is considered a representative of the Russian piano school. His chamber music partners were well-known musicians such as Alexander Rudin, Valentin Feigin, Nikolai Petrow and Alexei Lubimow. He played under renowned conductors such as Gennadi Roschdestwenski and Mariss Jansons , currently chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich .

In addition to his teaching activities, he is particularly committed to contemporary music.
