Tim Kruithoff

Tim Kruithoff (born April 24, 1977 in Emden ) is a non-party German politician . On September 8, 2019, he was elected Lord Mayor of the East Frisian seaport of Emden with 75.4% of the vote as the successor to Bernd Bornemann . Kruithoff was supported by the CDU, FDP, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the voting community “Together for Emden” (GfE). A long tradition in Emden ends with his election victory: since 1956, the Social Democrats had appointed the mayor for 63 years without interruption. Kruithoff took office on November 1, 2019.

Life

Kruithoff was born in Emden in 1977. He has a younger brother and grew up in the Borssum district of Emden .

After secondary school and initial vocational training as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk, the community service at the Hans-Susemihl hospital in Emden and an apprenticeship as a savings bank clerk at the local savings bank followed. Kruithoff, who had meanwhile acquired his advanced technical college entrance qualification in evening school, completed a degree in business administration at the Ostfriesland / Oldenburg / Wilhelmshaven University of Applied Sciences. He completed his semester abroad at the Hanze International Business School in Groningen (NL). He completed his studies with a degree in business administration .

During his subsequent activity as a management consultant in Hanover , he completed an extra-occupational master’s degree in the “Management of Financial Institutions” course at the University of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe in Bonn. The semester abroad took place at Boston University in Boston , Massachusetts . After passing the master’s examination, he was awarded the academic degree “Master of Business Administration” (MBA).

Kruithoff works in various companies of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe , most recently as a board member and department head corporate customers of Sparkasse Emden , before he announced his candidacy for the office of mayor on January 10, 2019.

Kruithoff is unmarried and has no children.
