Tim Schneider (born September 1, 1997 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player . He is part of the Bundesliga team Alba Berlin .

career

Schneider was born in the Schöneberg district of Berlin and grew up in the capital and in Teltow in Brandenburg . He learned to play basketball at RSV Eintracht and from the seventh grade onwards went to the Berlin School and Competitive Sports Center . He was used for the youth teams of Alba Berlin and from the 2013/14 season also in the second men's team in the first regional league. In 2014 he became German champions with the U19 team of the Berlin club.

In the 2016/17 season Schneider was in the Berlin Bundesliga squad for the first time and made his debut in the BBL on November 4, 2016 in a duel with Phoenix Hagen . At the same time, thanks to a "double license" for SSV Lokomotive Bernau, he is entitled to play in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In June 2017, he was awarded a three-year contract by Alba. The Spaniard Aíto García Reneses , known as a talent promoter , who took over the coaching position for the Berliners in 2017, gave him significantly more playing minutes in the Bundesliga. At the end of January 2020, he had to undergo an operation due to a herniated disc. Alba Berlin then indicated Schneider's expected absence as “undetermined”. He was therefore unable to participate in winning the German cup competition in February 2020 and the German championship in June 2020.

National team

In 2016, Schneider reached fourth place with the German U20 national team at the European Championships in Finland. At the U20 European Championship in summer 2017, he came seventh overall with the German team and scored an average of 5.3 points per match. In November 2018 Schneider was appointed to the German men's national team for the first time by national coach Henrik Rödl . In the World Cup qualifier against Greece on November 30, 2018, he played his first appearance in the senior national team. With the A2 selection, he took part in the Summer Universiade in Naples  , Italy in 2019 and was the third-best German scorer with 8.6 points per match.
