The Timan Ridge ( Russian Тиманский кряж ) is a mountain range up to 463  m high in the far north of the European part of Russia .

The ridge to the west of the northern Urals is part of the Eastern European Plain . It lies west of the Pechora and cuts the North Russian lowlands into two unequal parts (western and eastern parts). The Barents Sea and thus the Arctic Ocean join in the north .

The mid-mountainous landscape of the Timan Ridge, which is determined by the taiga and tundra , is characterized by hilly and mountainous areas that were carved undulating by the glacier masses of the ice ages . Some river valleys have formed in the ridge, the waters of which also arise there. The most important rivers are Ischma , Mesen and Wytschegda .

The largest city in the otherwise sparsely populated Timan Ridge is Uchta , which was founded in the 1930s to open up the Timan for raw material extraction.

Various mineral resources occur in the Timanrück area - including natural gas , crude oil , bauxite and titanium minerals .
