The Times Square Tower is a skyscraper in New York City . It was completed in 2004 after a two-year construction phase.
The 49-story building is located in the center of Manhattan , right on New York's famous Times Square . With a height of 221 meters, the tower is one of the tallest skyscrapers directly around Times Square, but is only the 42-tallest building in New York City itself (as of 2016). Due to its proximity to Times Square, the facade of the skyscraper is often used for advertising purposes. The Times Square Tower is mainly used for office facilities, but floors 3, 4, 48 and 49 are floors that are used mechanically. The tower houses 27 elevators.
The building is on 42nd Street between Broadway and Seventh Avenues; the main official address is 7 Times Square, New York, NY 10036. Side entrances exist at 1457 Broadway and 157 West 41st Street.
The name of the building is also derived from its location in Times Square. The well-known architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed the building.
