Clay Kotter
Anthonius Julius Hendrikus Kotter (born November 9, 1906 in Aalten , Netherlands , † 1991 ) was a Dutch composer and conductor .
At the age of 12 he got private trumpet lessons. When he was 14 years old, he received violin and trumpet lessons at the music school in Nijmegen . Then he made his first private studies in music theory and composition . At the age of 21, he entered the mariners' chapel of the Royal Navy as a trumpeter. At the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin , he studied composition and orchestral direction with Freidenberg . After the Second World War he was the conductor of various wind orchestras, including the wind orchestra of the Police Nijmegen . In 1948 he became conductor of several orchestras in the Tilburg area, including the well-known wind orchestra Sophia's Vereeniging , Loon op Zand , Netherlands, and from 1950 to 1965 of Andels Fanfare , Andel .
In 1965 he took up a position as a lecturer at the Conservatory of the Province of Twente in Enschede for wind orchestra direction .
