Toward Independence (dt. Against independence ) is an American documentary short film from 1948, in which George L. George was directing. The documentation is a US Army production .

One of the themes of the film is the path that seriously wounded soldiers have to take to find their way back to normal life. A hospital ward is shown and how it takes getting used to, for example, to heave yourself into a wheelchair.
