Toystory (full name Jenny-Lou Mrshl Toystory-ET , born on 7. May 2001 , departed on 2. December 2014 ) was an American Holstein-Friesian - insemination bull . He was the first bull in the world to produce and sell more than two million servings of semen .

Parentage and rearing

Toystory was born on May 7, 2001 on the Mystic Valley Dairy Farm near Sauk City , Wisconsin , USA . He was a BW Marshall son out of a patron mother. His mother did not carry him to term herself, but after flushing for embryo transfer , a total of four siblings were carried by foster cows. At the time of his birth, his mother, Jenny-Lou Patron Toyane, did not quite meet the criteria of the insemination organization Cooperative Resources International (CRI), with which her owner, Mitch Breuning, had signed mating agreements for her. She herself still had too few points in the index for the evaluation of her type . The AI ​​station analyst agreed with the owner that BW Marshall would be the sire before the flush . Two male and two female calves were born from the flush. The Select Sires AI station had also signed a contract for Toyane up to the birth . However, CRI had the first choice and chose Toystory because it appeared a little fitter and because it had larger testicles. For Mitch Breuning this was a great success because Toystory and his brother Lou Mystic Valley Dairy , who also got a positive breeding value, were the first bulls he could sell to an insemination station. Toystory moved to the breeding station at the insemination center when he was four months old and, after passing the veterinary tests, began collecting semen from him. Even when the 2,100 servings were delivered for the test bulls, he was classified as a very good sperm supplier.

It got its name because the breeder's kids were crazy about the Toy Story movie .

Toystory got its first breeding value from the test and was immediately in third place of all bulls tested in the USA. His strengths were a high protein content in the milk of his daughters, the ease of calving his offspring and the high fertility of his semen with an overall balanced inheritance without any real weaknesses. In the following years the index breeding value of Toystory hardly changed, which is rather unusual as there are regular base adjustments. By May 4, 2012, he had sold two million servings of semen. From one ejaculate it was possible to obtain 2,500 servings with 20 million sperm each. The previous record holder "Skalsummer Sunny Boy" had held the record for the most produced portions with 1,767,000 portions for several years. However, this was achieved with a high proportion of fresh semen, the yield being significantly higher than with frozen semen , which was only obtained from Toystory. Overall, the bull was twice in a row on three days a week. He delivered the most servings in 2010 with 386,000 in one year. Toystory frozen semen has been and is exported to 50 countries. In 2012 his breeding value included 31,222 daughters from the USA, 7,927 from Japan, 6,086 from France, 5,811 from Canada, 4,006 from Spain, 3,882 from Italy, 3,635 from Germany, 1,719 from Korea, 1,692 from the Netherlands and 1,657 from Scandinavia. His breeding value in autumn 2014 included 127,321 daughters from 27,102 herds. It must be taken into account that the normal range is ten to twelve servings of semen per daughter with breeding value. In addition, young animals and animals in countries such as Argentina that have not joined the international breeding value assessment at Interbull are not included in the figures. According to CRI, Toystory was the bull with the highest profit for a company ever in 2012. In total, CRI-Genetics has produced and marketed 2.415 million servings of bull's semen. Since sexed sperm was also recently offered, in which the 50% male sperm are separated so that only half as many servings remain, the number of servings sold has recently decreased.

In December 2014 it was reported that the bull fell ill and is no longer alive. At this point some portions of his semen were still in stock.
