Traiano Boccalini (* 1556 in Loreto , † November 16, 1613 in Venice ) was an Italian author of political satires during the Renaissance .

Boccalini studied in Perugia and worked for many years as a judge and administrator in the papal service. In 1612 he went to Venice , where he published “Ragguagli di Parnaso” , the description of an imaginary kingdom with which Boccalini criticized the customs of his time. In the same lively style and with equally biting irony , Boccalini then wrote “Pietro del paragone politico” against the Spanish supremacy in Italy . The work appeared after his death in 1615. Other books attributed to him also dealt with political questions.
