Trechtingshausen (formerly also Trechtlingshausen ) is a municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Rhein-Nahe Association , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Bingen am Rhein . Trechtingshausen has been part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 .
geography
The wine town of Trechtingshausen is located northwest of Bingen in the upper Middle Rhine Valley . It is located on the northeast slope of the Binger Forest . The Morgenbach flows into the Rhine near Trechtingshausen .
Trechtingshausen includes the residential places Rheinstein Castle , Gerhardshof, Morgenbachtal and Restaurant Swiss house .
history
The chronicler already spoke of a "Castrum Trajani" of the Romans.
In the Franconian period Trechtingshausen belonged to the lower Nahegau . Row graves from this period were uncovered during construction work. In the first documentary mentions in 1122 the name of the village is mentioned Drodingishusen, 1135 Drohtenhusen, 1328 Dreieckshusen and 1335 Drechlingshusen.
From the documents from 1135 we learn that Trechtingshausen in the "Sprengel St. Clemens " was owned by the Cornelimünster Abbey near Aachen. Because of the long distance, the abbey had appointed knights ( bailiffs ) as administrators and protectors. They were based at Reichenstein Castle . But over time the knights degenerated into robber knights .
On September 6, 1270, the abbey sold the entire "Sprengel St. Clemens" to the Mainz cathedral chapter and the Maria ad gradus monastery in Mainz. But the robber barons continued their mischief until the Roman-German King Rudolf von Habsburg destroyed Reichenstein Castle in 1282 and had the robber barons executed at the Clement Chapel.
In 1290 Dietrich von Hohenfels illegally sold the rebuilt castle and Trechtingshausen to the powerful Count Palatine Ludwig the Strict . Disputes between Mainz and the Count Palatine over the property were not decided until 1344; Trechtingshausen and Reichenstein Castle finally came to Mainz. Trechtingshausen and Niederheimbach were assigned to the Bingen office . Every congregation had a mayor . The Oberschultheiß had its seat in Niederheimbach . The " thing days " were held below Sooneck Castle , where the gallows stood. The Thirty Years' War brought much suffering and misery to Trechtingshausen. 35 houses were burned down. The plague ruled for several years .
Trechtingshausen belonged to Kurmainz for around 500 years, with the official seat in Bingen. After the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine by the French revolutionary troops , the church princes were expropriated and Trechtingshausen was assigned to the Mairie Niederheimbach in the canton of Bacharach when the French administration was introduced .
After the Wars of Liberation , Trechtingshausen stayed with the mayor's office in Niederheimbach in the St. Goar district in the Rhine Province .
In 1938 the village came to the Bacharach office , on October 1, 1968 to the Bacharach association and on November 8, 1970 to the Rhein-Nahe association in the Mainz-Bingen district, to which the municipality has belonged since June 9, 1969.

coat of arms
Blazon : "Divided and split up of red and silver, above right a sechsspeichiges silver cartwheel, top left, diagonally left black anchor, silver blue three bottom boat (2: 1)." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The silver Mainz wheel in red symbolizes the uninterrupted affiliation to Kurmainz from 1344 to 1798; the anchor refers to the shipping and haulage services and is the attribute of Saint Clement , the local patron. The three barges symbolize the relationship between the village, which is composed of three neighborhoods, and the Bodental valley on the right bank of the Rhine . The vineyards there were the main livelihood of the Trechtingshäuser, which they reached with the boats. |
