Triftplatz (Schönau am Königssee)

The drift space on the municipal boundary of Berchtesgaden in Berchtesgaden county land used to be a transit point for the on Königsseer Ache and Ache Ramsauer direction Berchtesgaden geflößte wood ( Holztrift ), which had been beaten in the adjacent mountain forests and up brought to the Achen. The Königsseer Ache and Ramsauer Ache unite at Triftplatz near the Berchtesgaden main train station to form the Berchtesgadener Ache , which is called Königsseeache from the Austrian border .

From 1909 to 1965, the Triftplatz with the Königsseer train station was the starting point for the Königsseebahn to Königssee . On March 22, 2012, the old station building on Triftplatz was demolished.

The open space on Triftplatz was used for many years as a fairground, as well as for flea markets and festival tents. In 2009 there was a spatial planning procedure to designate parts of the Triftplatz by the community of Schönau a.Königssee in a cross-community project together with the Berchtesgaden market as a "special area (retail) and commercial area", which has now been followed by the construction and establishment of several shops on the Triftplatz.
